Tasting Notes
Appearance: Very dark ruby red
color with an ivory foam head that leaves a nice lace on the side of
the glass and surface of the beer.
Aroma: Spicy, with hints of
nutmeg, clove, oak, and cherry.
Taste: A full mouth feel and
flavor. Nutmeg and clove are noticeable as well as a slight
alcohol taste. The finish is slightly bitter.
Summary: This beer reminds me
of a very light brandy and would be a nice warmer on a cold winter
night. |
Tasting Notes
Appearance: Deep amber (almost
bronze) color topped by an ivory colored thick foam head that leaves
a lovely lace pattern on the side of the glass.
Aroma: Very flowery with
spices and hops most noticeable.
Taste: This full bodied beer
is smooth and silky on the tongue. Caramel and nutmeg flavors mix
well with the bitterness of the hops and mild alcohol flavor. A
bitter aftertaste follows each sip due to the high hop content.
Summary: I look forward to
this beer every year. It cost more than the typical six pack, but
the full flavor of every sip is worth it. For those who enjoy hoppy
or bitter beers I highly recommend trying this one. |

Tasting Notes
Appearance: Dark honey colored beer with a
white lace foam on the surface. Aroma:
a flowery aroma with a hint of nutmeg hovers over the glass. Taste:
This medium bodied beer has a fruity (mostly cherry) and sweet
flavor. Some spices, like nutmeg, are present and an alcohol finish
is noticed. Summary: This beer would
go great with a fruit pie like cherry, blueberry, raspberry, or
apple. |
Tasting Notes
Appearance: Deep clear copper
color with a thin sheet of white foam on the head and some lace on
the glass.
Aroma: Very little aroma, but
malt and spices are present.
Taste: A medium bodied beer
with a sweet malty flavor. Some bitterness and nutmeg flavors are
present. Pumpkin and caramel are noticed after each sip.
Summary: This beer would go
nice with a chocolate dessert. |
Tasting Notes
Appearance: A thick ivory foam
head covers the very dark, almost black cherry colored beer.
Aroma: Malty, with fruity
esters and hints of molasses.
Taste: This medium bodied,
full flavored beer has a smooth mouth feel. A fruity taste is first
present and it is quickly followed by caramel, molasses, vanilla and
cherry. It finishes with a slight bitterness.
Summary: This beer is only
available in the Sam Adams holiday pack. I wish it was available in
six packs. It would go well with a fruity dessert, vanilla ice cream
or a cream filled pastry.
