Tasting Notes
Appearance: Black liquid with
a light brown head that quickly dissolves onto the surface of the
beer.
Aroma: A fruity smell is first
noticed, but is quickly covered over by a burnt wood and malty
aroma.
Taste: This medium bodied
beer has a chocolate taste to it which is followed by coffee, nuts
and lightly burnt malts.
Summary: This is a decent
stout that goes down really easy. However, I was looking for a more
robust flavor. |
Tasting Notes
Appearance: A very dark beer
that does not allow light to penetrate through the glass. The head
is a nice creamy foam with a cinnamon color.
Aroma: The smell of this beer
reminds me of hot chocolate. Hints of malts are also noticeable.
Taste: This full bodied beer
is silky smooth on the tongue. Chocolate and coffee flavors are most
noticeable, however malts and a slight bitterness appear towards the
end of each sip.
Summary: At 9.1% alcohol this
beer has a terrific flavor that makes you forget how strong it is.
This is one of my favorite stouts and would recommend it to
anyone! |
Tasting Notes
Appearance: A very dark beer
with some purple and brown colors apparent when held up to the
light. Little to no head.
Aroma: A heavy alcohol smell
hovers over the glass. Cherry and molasses are also present.
Taste: This beer tastes like
a port wine. Sweet and sticky with cherry, molasses, coffee and
alcohol flavors.
Summary: This is the second
strongest beer in the world (Sam Adams Utopia is 24% alc.). Because
of that the alcohol flavor dominates. It has a nice flavor and I
think may be even better if aged for a year or two. I have another
bottle I will put in the basement and review next year. |
