| While
researching the trails to get up Mt. Whiteface I noticed that the
Wiggin Trail cuts across from Dicey Mills to the Blueberry Ledge
trail. In an effort to avoid the ledges this looked like a good
route to take.
|
I
should have know that the Wiggin trail was a bad decision from the
start when we had to take our boots off to safely cross a very
cold small stream. After we dried our feet and put our boots back
on we soon discovered that the trail is lightly used and was
overgrown with brush. Much to our surprise we found out that this
was a perfect breeding ground for ticks.

Further
up the Wiggin trail we hiked up some very steep sections before we
reached the intersection of the Blueberry Ledge trail. After a
short break we proceeded up the trail and found that the Wiggin
trail intersection connects before the ledges. Luckily, the ledges
weren't too difficult to get over and offered some great views. |
Eventually
we reached the south summit which was a wide open rocky ledge that
provided some views to the west. Shortly after another break we
followed the Rollins trail to the true summit and came across a
shelter that was on its last legs. We then continued across the
Rollins trail back to Dicey Mills and headed back to the car from
there.
