Tim, Danielle and Anthony hiked to the summit of Mt. Waumbek so that Anthony could bag another 4,000 foot peak. This was a hazy, hot and humid day with limited views. However, we found many interesting plants and met some interesting hikers along the way.

The hike to Mt. Waumbek is one of the easiest in the White Mountains. We lucked out once again with terrific weather and fabulous views. However, some rain would have been welcome to help alleviate the drought situation.

Mt. Waumbek is a wooded summit, but Mt. Starr King, which is about a mile away, has some nice views towards Franconia notch and Mt. Washington.

We practically had the mountain to ourselves on this day. However, we did keep running into a man hiking with his beagle who was also trying to bag the 4,000 footers. On the summit of Starr King we compared notes on the mountains we've already visited.

Once upon a time a cabin sat near the summit of Starr King. Today all that is left is the chimney pictured on the left. It's kind of a strange sight in the middle of the woods.

On our way back we made from the summit of Starr King to the car in an hour and a half. I think that's a new record for us.
