It was a hot, sunny and dry day when Danielle and I hiked up Mt. Moriah. There wasn't a drop of water anywhere along the trail, but luckily I brought an extra liter. By the end of the day we needed every drop.

We had to go over a series of ledges to reach the summit. They were very steep which forced us to take our time getting over them. It took us a little bit longer getting down them on the way back.

The summit of Mt. Moriah isn't very big and there was a large crowd gathered their by the time we arrived. We did manage to find a spot near the benchmark where we could enjoy the views and rest for a while.

On the way back to the car we noticed smoke coming from near the summit of Mt. Madison. We found out later that it was a forest fire covering about an acre. It didn't surprise us since there wasn't much rain this summer.
