Mt. Liberty

Hiked on: August 16, 2014
(Tim and Anthony - Total Distance: 10 miles)

Anthony's still working on his 4,000 footer list so the two of us did a traverse over Mt. Flume and Mt. Liberty by using the Osseo Trail, Franonia Ridge trail and Liberty Spring trail to bag the two peaks. We had cool temps and cloudy skies and lots of views. Neither of us has hiked a 4,000 footer in a couple of years, but by the end of the day we felt great and were glad to be back in the mountains.

This was actually the second time we climbed Mt. Liberty.  In May, we turned around about 3/4 of the way up because of all the snow.  The weather on this day was very hot and humid.  Also, there were so many bugs biting I'm surprised we had any blood left at the end of the day. The trail to the top is long and steep.  It's like climbing a stair master for 3 hours straight.
From the summit of Liberty we headed to the summit of Mt. Flume. On the way over we found a small snowy patch which was a nice cool relief on such a hot day. Other hikers on summit
