Since the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001 the hiking community has raised a flag on each of the 48 4,000 foot mountains in New England. This year, we volunteered for Mt. Field. While on the hike we also visited Mt. Avalon and Mt. Tom. Fuzz and Anthony also hiked over to Mt. Willey to bag another 4,000 footer. I stayed with the flag. We had great weather and met many nice hikers who appreciated what we were doing.

12 miles)

The day Danielle and I hiked up to Mt. Field was very hot and humid. The summit has a small clearing just off the trail which offers some views, but we had much better views from the summit of Mt. Avalon.

From the summit of Mt. Field we hiked over to Mt. Willey, came back to Mt. Field, headed over to Mt. Tom and then back to the car.
